How do we change negative patterns into positive ones?
By being aware of them.
In my book I discuss that if we continuously repeat negative patterns, we will most likely end up in The Abyss.
Let's look at our daily dialogue as an example. I catch myself thinking often that I'll have a negative outcome to something before I even try, which is setting myself up for failure.
How do I change this negative self defeating pattern into something more positive?
With these easy steps:
1. Notice the dialogue of negativity by being aware of it (when it's said or thought) by simply saying, "Oops, I just said I couldn't do xyz, again".
2. Then ask, how can we change the dialogue? Think of the little engine that could...and say to ourselves..."I think I can, I think I can, I know I can, I know I can" each and every time.
3. Now the dialogue has changed from "I just said (or thought) I couldn't do something" to "I'm aware that I just had a thought that I couldn't do something, and now I'm going to consciously break the pattern by repeating (positive affirmations) like the little engine that could".
4. By being aware and seeing the pattern, then changing the dialogue, we are on the road to lasting positive change.
